When to use the handbrake?

There is a saying “If a pause becomes a wait, apply the hand brake”

Have a cut-off time of about 4 seconds, if you cant go before then, apply the hand brake.

Also at night it stops dazzling motorists behind with bright brake lights.

Another important area to apply the hand brake is at pedestrian crossings. If you slip on the foot brake or get hit from behind then the hand brake will prevent the car moving.

The hand brake could save a life one day.
